I will be getting a 8 gig iPod Touch and I am VERY VERY nervous to jailbreak it =/ Is there any way that anything bad can happen to it.. I searched on some stuff on this forum and says that you can't get bricked and you can just restore o_o Which makes me happy :]

1. Anything Possible that can TOTALLY mess up your Touch.
2. Is it easy to jailbreak from a " noob " like me ;)

Thanks So Much!

P.S: I am new to these forums!

as to #1, drowning, burning, crushing, eating and dropping from large heights, your ipod touch will most likely render it useless, jailbreaking 99.9% unlikely to cause damage

for # 2 yes it is easy... if you can push a couple buttons....;)

is there a SPECIFIC guide out there that list detail steps to jailbreak?

;)

Thanks!

i would like to add a couple of questions...

which jailbreak method is the best? ive heard the ZiPhone works well. any recommendations?

and

is it easy to "un jailbreak" your touch after you jailbreak it?

one more

does it matter if you bought the Jan Software upgrade?

Thanks!

Jan Soft Update sicks around after jailbreak...

I used ZiPhone, and it was VERY easy.

Unjailbreaking needs a restore, which is quite easy, but takes a bit of time, and you lose all files on the iPod (but, all the music/videos/pictures are on iTunes, so you dont lose that stuff).

Here's a guide:

Download ZiPhone @ ziphone.org (from PC/Mac... not iPod)

Launch it, press OK to unzip... Wait for the for the program to launch.

Plug in iPod

Press 'Jailbreak (iPod also supported)'.

Wait. White flashy text on your iPod is normal.

When ZiPhone says ur done... ur done.

Is the ipod plugged in all time? Or is there a special mode it has to be in to do this? Because that is what I was seeing on the forums :S

nope... just plug it in regularly. You only need to put it in a special mode if everythign messes up, and you need to go back to the very beginning.
