The Emcode Plus has generally been very good for the last year but suddenly, has become unresponsive in HomeKit, showing as “no response” in the Home app.

The lock works from the keypad but will not respond to Home app or Siri.

Are you using thread or wi-fi? Do you have an Ikea Dirigera hub?

My encode plus has been on thread the past year (with incredible battery savings compared to wi-fi before that, BTW) but it uses a nearby HomePod mini to connect to thread and is happily online right now. Having said that, I've also had an Ikea Dirigera hub online for about a year and - in the last few days - I've been reading online that a Dirigera update and/or the Ikea Homesmart app may be the cause of thread/matter devices dropping offline recently.

Personally, I've been trying to integrate a bunch of the new Ikea matter devices into Apple Home the last few weeks and it has not been plain sailing - so there may be something in it?

Thread. Using AppleTV as hub.

So you’ve never used the Schlage app to set it up (as that method prefers WiFi)?

Have you tried rebooting your ATV? Or have you added any thread-enabled devices lately (or even WiFi ones) that may have disrupted your thread network?

Whenever I’ve had issues with the Encode plus (maybe 3-4 times over the last two years and usually because Apple Express home keys are not working, not connectivity) this reset seems to get everything rock-solid again:
  1. Remove lock from Apple Home
  2. Factory reset the lock:
    1. Remove battery cover
    2. Press and hold the lock’s inside button while it the inside LED on the left side flashes red (for about 7 seconds)
    3. Keep pressing until LED turns blue
    4. Let go of button
    5. Wait and then press the button ONCE, briefly to enable thread pairing mode.
  3. Set up directly in HomeKit (don’t use the Schlage app. Don’t even open the app)
You can use the Schlage app afterwards to look at the lock’s status, etc., but I’ve found it better NOT to connect the app to my old Schlage account (even though the app encourages it)

Just FYI, my encode plus is on firmware 4.2.1235159 (per apple home) and the battery is at 72%

Are the batteries fresh?

i had wonky issues with the encode plus whenever they reach the 10% mark. changing to new batteries resolved issues.

also ive added a few FTD (full thread devices) in between the locks and the AppleTV and my thread network has been rock solid without any issues. so glad i removed them from the WIFI network since that ate up battery life.
