US History AP
English 11 Acc
Pre-Calculus Acc
Statistics AP
Quantitative Chemistry Acc
Team Sports
Advanced Tech Systems

my 2006-2007 senior schedule:

AP Calculus BC
AP Computer Science AB

only have 5 course slots at my school unfortunately, i was planning on also taking AP World History.

Finally getting to reply to a fellow New Jerseyian...

Our sciences work as follows:
Freshman year - Biology
Soph - Physics
Junior - Chem
Senior - AP of any of the above, with Physics C being the Physics choice.
Senior electives include Current Global Issues, AP? Statistics, AP Envi Sci, and next level of language (only req'd for 3 yrs)

You sign up for a "tech elective" for your junior and senior years. They include:
1) Community college course - CAD1 and then CAD2 senior year
2) also at Community college - programming - and then more programming senior year
3) Digital Electronics
4) was Cisco CCNA, but that's been eliminated for Civil Engineering and Architecture.

with 1 and 2 you have to take some frowned upon classes during the winterim when there are no CAD or programming classes held

with 3 and 4 you do not, but you do have to take Engineering Physics. For my class it will be a 2 credit half year course. This year's students have a 4 credit full year course.

EP is taught by the same teacher that I have for my sophomore Physics class now.

EP for Digital will focus on structures, stress, bridges, etc. Stuff not covered in the digital electronics curriculum.
EP for Civil will focus on electronics, waves, etc., which is not covered in the civil engineerng and architecture curriculum.
That sounds like a really neat course. Our sciences go like this at MHS:

freshman - earth and space (bio / hon bio if advanced)

soph - bio (chem / hon chem if advanced)

Then for Junior / Senior year it depends. Usually the Juniors on level will do chem then Senior year take Physics, whereas the advanced with have a slew of choices they can split between junior and senior year. Hon or AP Physics A or B (or reg physics JR or SR year), AP Bio, AP Chem, and then honors environmental sciences, hon anatomy, horticulture, or some other BS science that some seniors take as an easy slide by course. So it's really confusing but basically most people can reverse these classes take one JR and one SR, etc. There is no definite set that people go through usually. It's what the student is more interested in.

holy hell! i just found out my AP American History class next year gets me 6 hours of college credit through a local community college if i make a B (should be no prob), as do my AP Calculus AB next year, BC senior year, and AP/GT English IV my senior year--each! and some other class i'm taking...not sure which though.

All these kids are taking all hard classes their senior year. What the hell happen to kids having fun their senior year?
i'm doing it my senior year (currently soph) because a) i <3 learning, especially science, b) the slack-off classes all suck, and c) it's sort of this expectation i have of myself that i have to take the highest level classes i can
oh, and that 'class rank' thing, with the 1.2x multiplier for AP classes  and i *should* be taking 7 my senior year, unless they move us back to a 7-period schedule from 8 which they might

they offer the same thing by me in Moorestown, but i think you need to muster up a 3 on the AP exam too, i could be mistaken.

My junior year is looking like this.. assuming their scheduling system knows what it's doing (prolly not, it runs on Windows..).

  • English III (could of taken honors but don't wanna)
  • French II
  • Honors Pre-Calc
  • Honors Chemistry
  • Computer Science (mm.. Java..)
  • U.S. History
  • P.E. (freaking government and this requirement.. )

Speak of the devil, I just had my meeting today with my guidance counselor.

There are no AP classes available yet as a 10th grader at my school.

Honors English 10
Honors Bio 10
Honors World Civ 10
Honors Algebra 2 (highest level for a typical sophomore)
Spanish III (highest level you can be at as a sophomore)
Foundations in Art (ughh, I have to take it)
Applied Electronics II

what's applied electronics, is that like robotics/programming or something of that nature?
