I can still remember the first time I heard his name - Murray Walker in full-on 'pants on fire' mode reporting on his qualifying performance for his very first race, the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix. And with Senna's McLaren failing in the latter stages, the burnt clutch which put Schumacher out on the first lap almost certainly cost him a debut victory.

You know what would be mad? This scenario

Gets to Brazil, Michael is up by 1 point, Alonso leads race from pole to last lap, Michael has the quicker car as Alonso's tyres are starting to blister.

What will the great Schuey do?

a)Do an insanely brilliant move around the last corner of the track, flying past the Spaniard to complete the greatest F1 career

b)Sit on Alonso's wing and be happy with Second (lol)

c)Go into his "Michael Schumacher's Bag of Tricks" and as a result Alonso mysteriously suffers a rear punture whilst Michael loses his front wing.

Personally a) would be good b) will never happen and c) Well c) would be too hilarious and i wouldnt stop laughing for months. It would be an absolute legendary way to win his 8th championship.

Yoda once said about Michael "Born racer he is, lose 2006 championship he will not".

i was stoked I got to see Schumi in Montreal this year. Too bad he didnt win since all the Ferrari nuts (myself included) were out in full force...

I just hope Kimi can fill his shoes well enough to keep Ferrari Number 1!

I was hoping you were talking about Joel Schumacher.

I think the main problem is that Alonso didn't try and take Schumacher out this season, and hasn't parked his car at Monaco. People like a champion who's either fun (Mansell, Villeneuve for example), clinical (Prost, Hakkinen, Hill), or ideally both (Senna). Schuey always came across as a bit heartless - however great some of his drives were...

I read an interview with Lauda once and he said a lot of the stuff Schu does has always been going in F1. More eyes now and of course cameras at every corner.

Um...Senna won that race! And he was driving a Jordan! He was never gonna win that race - no matter how good he was then. The Mclarens, Williams and the Benetton's would have been too much for him!

Senna did win the race, but his gearbox went wonky in the latter stages, and he would have been caught and passed by 2nd placed Andrea De Cesaris (in the second Jordan-Ford) had a plastic bag not been sucked into the Jordan's radiator inlet causing the Cosworth engine to overheat and fail. Mansell's engine blew at the bottom of the hill toward Eau Rouge, and Patrese was hampered by the gearbox gremlins which plagued the Williams team that season. The Bennetton was a better qualifying car than race car. Remember, Schumacher grew up in Kerpen which is only a few miles from Spa, so Schumi knew the circuit like the back of his hand. This helped him qualify 7th for that race, whilst his team mate De Cesaris, also considered a Spa specialist, qualifyed only 11th.

Ah, memories!

Don't remember Flav Briatore complaining about MS when he won two championships for him and Renault.

Is it me or has Flavs spoken English gotten worse instead of better over the years?
