BBC Article here...

Basically it will allow a woman to have an orgasm with the touch of a button! But he can't find enough volunteers to test it... If it was a male device, I bet he would have a line around the block. :p

thats insane, this would make millions of dollars, even billions. Lesbians over the world would be wetting themselves with excitement!

The implant, inserted under the skin at the base of the spine, triggers a reflex response to produce sensation.

I just thought of this... It gives a whole new meaning to a pat on the back! ;)

I thought it was called a vibrator...

The things people come up with... It's funny that he was originally doing pain research and came across this.

Imagine how weird it would be if they came up with a way to just poke you with this thing, and make you orgasm, guy or girl... That could be dirty...

Haha, no. These seem to be very different things in what they stimulate and how they go about doing it. A vibrator can be loads of fun if you can do it right, this looks like its a different thing for a different purpose....

There's a fine line between pain and pleasure, the word "orgasm" was derived from a word that meant "little death". Plus pain (in the right doses in the right places) can be a huge turn-on for a lot of people, I happen to like the feeling of fingernails digging into my back when I'm aroused but its different strokes for different folks...

Not quite but there are panties with built-in vibrators which are controlled by wireless that exist, you do have to look around for them though, they don't exactly sell them at the local K-Mart....

Anyhoo, I myself would be a bit reluctant to have this implanted into me, it might be fun for a bit but if its as sensitive as it implies then it may get frustrating after awhile. I'm not sure how I feel about it being used for sexual dysfunction, there's a lot we don't know about female sexuality and a quick-fix solution like this seems too much like treating some of the symptoms, not the actual problem although I wouldn't be opposed to being a volunteer temporarily....

i agree with vniow, this treats a symptom but not the cause. but, the device probably has legitimate theraputic use, which should certainly be explored. i just don't see this as a must-have for women. but, it brings attention to the need to find treatment for frigidness, which is good.

i could actually see this being a bad thing, to an extent, as women become dependent on it to induce orgasm...

men just love the idea because we'd gladly pay for instant orgasms. apparently 30 seconds and some rubbing takes too long ;)

I was reading in the newspaper last week that there are some women that have hundreads of (random) involentary orgasms every day. To them it is absolute hell, because they can never get anything done. Maybe this tec can be used to help them.

Not unusual at all, Viagra was originally developed as a heart medication...>

Then they discovered it had a side effect. The test participants kept getting erections. ;)

Panties with a wireless control? Must be Airport XXXtreme. ;)

Sorry.

Maybe they are not getting volunteers because the natural way is much more pleasant. They would probably give second thought to have a device implanted. Why take the risk of side effects.

And society, decency, and civilization step back a hundred years.

 <sarcasam>Yep, never mind civil rights abuses, sweat shops, and 'preemptive strikes'. Giving women push button control over their orgasams is the worst thing to happen to the planet! </sarcasam>

Now having these things on a remote would be interesting! :D Much to hvfl's point, it probably be very distracting and even annoying if was switched on all the time, and doesn't really help people with sexual dysfuntion... But the fun factor would defintely be there!! I bet you couldn't get the smile off their faces with a jackhammer!;)

wait, scientist produces device to give women orgasms on demand???

i thnk there are enough ways to do that already ... a boyfriend/ (any) partner (which would include a loooooong list of more specific ways but I think there are kids out there reading...) .. or just the plain, old fashioned hands. ;)

[sarcasm] Giving jobs to unqualified people and gay marriage are just as good too. And I DID say it was the worst thing on the planet[sarcasm/]

Do you want me to go down the list?

Some girls have a big problem doing/getting/finding some of those methods.....;)

Edit: Guys too, for that matter.

Well... that is what practise is for. No one's great in bed if they've never been in bed (and especially if not even with themselves). Use your imagination ..

That thing.

It is also interesting that maybe this could help women with anatomical problems, (like a piercing not done quite right). Of course, with gratification at the click of a button would also come other problems..... like desensitisation. If you have orgasms all the time they wont be that big of a deal after a while....;)

Yea, _most_women_ have hands.. an other thing that helps a lot is IMAGINATION.

If those don't help, think about G5s while you. .. ;)
