Scientists inscribe entire Bible onto pinhead

How long before we see some stellar increases in storage capacity from technology along these lines, I wonder.

I like the fact there's scientists out there who devote their life to a worthy cause... then there are the other who do something complete redundant like this.

If Jesus's found that someone out there put the entire bible on a pin I think he'd be rolling in his grave....

The point is they can do it, not what they did it with. It would be no more or less redundant to have used the phone book or random 0s & 1s.

Now they know how to do it they can go about attempting something worthy.

The other question is whether Jesus, a Jew, would consider it a complete bible as he doesn't get a mention. If he does, then he's discounting Christianity which is going to cause a stir as if he doesn't believe in himself why should anybody. If he doesn't believe the it's the complete bible just because he doesn't get a mention, then he's being vain, one of the seven sins I believe, so if he's a sinner should people believe in him....

Why isn't this "worthy" cause? Because it isn't fighting cancer or some other disease?

This technology will undoubtedly lead to further advancements in nano technology and information technology. I think that's plenty "worthy.":)

Yeah I was thinking along the lines of something that adds to society not so much the typical "anti cancer/disease/etc"... I just can't see how putting the Bible on a pin head furthers society even if it's a bit of a leap in the area of nanotechnology, I just can't really see any practical uses for it.....

Well if it makes you feel any better, I recently heard that some scientists have been able to use nano technology to target cancer cells in the blood. It's of course still highly experimental, but who knows just how long before we get even better cancer treatments.

So, this might be one random, yet crucial, step in the right direction. :)

This is why you're not a scientist.

If that's the case then I think it's a good step in the right direction.

While this is cool, does anyone else find this ironic?
Last I heard, they were trying to decide whether their next project should be (a) attempting to break the 1,024-dancing-angel pinhead capacity barrier, or (b) going "Fantastic Voyage" with a camel and a sewing needle.
