I have just joined and read some threads about scuff marks, mine has this too... Out of the box. I am wondering if there is a general rule about how much is deemed acceptable by Apple, like how many manufacturing faults are okay before they will replace. I am not close to an Apple store so don't want to drive if there is no hope... but I also feel ripped off. I guess I'm scared they will just say 'go away' because this seems to be a wide range problem.

General rule of thumb: If you have any problems or complaints, call Apple first. If they turn you down, then you can post on here (in one of the many pre-existing scratch/scuff threads) about your situation and see if anyone can offer additional help.

Bottom line, always go to Apple first. They will be able to provide the most accurate information in the most timely fashion.
