Hi all

I received my new iMac recently. The package looked good, didn't have any damage. But upon opening it, I see there is a largish (5-6cm) scratch on the back of the iMac. Doesn't seem like the metal has been scratched though, but still a bit odd to me (looks like fingernail marks).

Did you experience anything similar or was everything in mint condition upon arrival? Not sure if I should return it or if I should try and rub it away.

In the middle of several books.
Looks like it came from the factory that way. I would call Apple and let them know. They may do something for you, without you having to ship.

If you are going to keep the Mac for several years, consider keeping it. If you aren’t going to keep it for a good while and plan on a resale, then return it.

Granted, when we spend a lot of money for something, it should come as expected. Unfortunately, life doesn’t always happen that way.

I’d just rub it away. Mine had a couple of similar marks on it that just wiped right off with a damp microfiber.

There's also a weird discolouring on the back, like some film has been attached to it for too long (it's not a shadow):
