screen affected by plastic film?

My brand new touch seems to be having some problems with the screen. The upper 1/3 doesn't seem to sense my inputs with the same sensitivity as the other part. Since I haven't even had it for more than 1 day, the plastic film is still on. Do you think this could affect the input or is it a problem with the iPod itself?
 
The plastic film- as in the one already on it by default from Apple?

Well, if that's the case, take it back and tell them. I had that cover on for a couple of days and I had no problems. 😀
