I have a two month old Macbook Pro Retina 13" with 2.4 GHz Intel Core I5 & 8 GB of RAM running 10.9.5 and there is a pretty significant problem.

The screen will randomly go black and put the computer to sleep. It seems to happen out of nowhere but the other night I noticed it happens when I move the laptop in certain ways. I called Apple Care and whoever I talked to had no idea what I was talking about.

The other night I managed to replicate the problem and shoot a cell phone video:

Anybody have any idea what's going on?

You can probably show the video to apple care...

On a side note, the computer will go back into sleep/turn off screen when not touched in about 5-10 seconds if you are at the lock screen.

Since it's two months old, it's still under warranty. Make an appointment for the Genius Bar to get it checked out.

I've got the same problem. It goes even during the Skype conversation when keyboard and touchpad is not used.

I have 2014 13" retina. I think it happens only when laptop is on the battery.

Very strange.
