I cannot control my screen brightness using the F5 and F8 keys. The only way I can adjust it is through System Preferences. I tried just F5 fn F5, Control F5, Option F5 and Command F5 and non work.
Can anyone help please.
Alan

Duh - I feel like an idiot 😱 Any idea what the F5 and F8 keys do?
Alan
I don't have my MBA with me right now, but I am pretty sure that F5 dims the keyboard backlight (F6 brightens it) and F8 is related to media playback.

Yes, F5-F6 are keyboard backlight controls, and F8 is the play/pause media control key. F1-F2 are the screen brightness controls.

I have noted that if the light sensor thinks it's too bright, it doesn't seem to want to turn on the keyboard backlight.

Thanks guys. I'm loving my Apple products after Windows for 18 years.
