Screen Brightness Resets to Max Upon Startup

Like the title says, my MBP always resets its brightness upon startup. Is there any way to fix this?

The brightness should be controlled by the ambient light sensor, have you tried restarting in darker/lighter environments?

uncheck ambient light sensor via display setting so it will not reset again.

The ambient light detector has been unchecked. That hasn't resolved the problem. I should also mention that the sound also *sometimes* resets to full upon startup. In fact, sometimes the brightness/sound will be low and sometimes it will be max (you can hear the startup sound even with headphones plugged in!) upon startup; it seems pretty random.

Needless to say, it's extremely irritating.

Resetting the PRAM worked for me.
