i know that there are 2 ways in OSX to take screen pictures.. one of the whole screen and other of just a portion of it. I just don't know how lol...
 
:apple: + SHIFT + 3 = Full screen
:apple: + SHIFT + 4 = selection
:apple: + SHIFT + 4 then SPACE BAR = Window
 
Open Finder, click Applications>Utilities>Grab. Open it. On the Menu Bar, click Capture. Selection will let you select a portion or the screen to capture. Window will select a specific window you have opened. Screen will capture the whole screen and Timed Screen will capture the whole screen after 10 seconds.

I'm really not sure why Grab exists/is still around. It's a lot more work than command+shift+3/4.
