Has anybody sustained scratches or scuffs on their screen from using a wallet-style case?

I recently bought a Doc Artisan V6 Sport for my 7 Plus. I don't care for screen protectors, but noticed that the V6 came with one. Wondering if my naked screen could be damaged by rubbing the leather flap?

The leather flap itself can't possibly be hard enough to scratch the screen, but it's probably quite easy to catch a grain of sand in there that could easily rub against.

It's hard to predict when you get sand in between the flap and screen. And conaidering it would be in contact with the screen most of the time there's bound to be constant rubbing leading to scratches. Best is to use a screen protector.

I had a 12 south wallet case I believe was the brand, for my iPhone 5 or 6 and yes over a year the cards left visible lines on the screen. luckily I didn't really notice it until around the time I was getting the next model and TMO didn't say anything about it. I haven't used a wallet case since although I know some even advertise that there is like a raised lip in the fabric slots for the cars so that the card doesn't directly come in contact with the phone. I just got a simple think non-flip wallet for the 3-4 cards I usually carry and an apple silicon case. Been happy like that for years now.
