Does anyone know if the screen flashing issue has ever been resolved? I am just about sick of it. Keep hoping the next update will fix it, but it never does.

2018 Intel Mini running OS 11.5
Dell monitor U2312HM - yes it's quite old now but for my use it's fine (if the flashing stops.)
These are connected via HDMI using Apple branded (ie, expensive) adapters.

Any help appreciated.

Hmmmm....
What IS this "screen flashing issue" of which you speak...?

The Dell U2312HM does not have an HDMI port.
I would def try a different connection...
Better choice (IMHO) for a vid connection would be a Thunderbolt/USB-C to DisplayPort cable, such as this:

I can’t remember off hand which adapters I have but I suspect it connects the mini hdmi to the monitor dvi. They are Apple products.
I was under the impression that the screen flashing I suffer was fairly common. Is it not? Do you suspect that the flashing issue may be cured by using a cable such as you suggest?
The main reason for using the hdmi connection was to leave the usb-c connections for other things. But if it don’t work, it don’t work.

There's a very long thread here about how Apple's own HDMI to DVI adapter does not work with some monitors. A few people had support dialogs with Apple and (IIRC) the conclusion was that the 2018 Mini HDMI port itself was the problem, it doesn't provide the correct voltage (or something like that). I think the consensus was to use a USB-C to DVI adapter instead because it's a hardware problem that can't be fixed with software.

Thanks for that. I knew I had seen it somewhere.

Well, the USB-C to Displayport cable seems to have cured this problem. Thanks for all the help.
So now I have a 2018 (bought 2020) that has a useless HDMI port and one less USB-C port. If I hadn't bought an Apple HDMI to DVI adapter perhaps I wouldn't be so annoyed. So thanks Apple, £29 down the drain. I thought Apple were better than this.
