I have searched, nothing similar as far as I'm aware.
Computer: Power Mac G5 Dual 2ghz | 6gb Ram | GeForce FX5200 64MB VideoCard | OS X 10.4.11| 160gb HD
I'm a digital printer. Send large files all day long to different epson printers.
My problem: At least once a day the Mac while spooling a print file to the printer will seemingly put the monitor to sleep (complete blank/black screen) and the print spooling will get interrupted, stopping the print. Although it will happen when not printing, this stopping of the print is what has alerted me to the problem. I always have at least 50gb of free space on my drive for print spool caches.
I have turned all energy saving settings to never : computer sleep/screen sleep/HD/screensaver
I have reset the PRam a couple of times.
I have tested and fixed any issues with permissions and the HD
I have trashed all application caches and ran maintenance scripts.
I have left unplugged overnight to see if internal battery was dead, which it wasn't.
I have taken out and re-seated Ram, checked video card seating, power cables etc.
Still happens. Even while using the keyboard/mouse at the time. I could be scrolling down a page on a website and screen goes blank, printing resets.
I have no problem "waking" the computer, I don't have to hard restart or anything.
I have 5 other Macs of similar specs that do the same workload/processes everyday and haven't seen a similar problem.
Any ideas ? 😕
