I have a G3 Wallstreet Powerbook, just bought it on eBay a week ago or so.
It seemed to work fine but starting yesterday, whenever I put the computer in sleep mode (closing the lid, for instance), when I awaken it, the screen stays on the lowest brightness mode, just above black. I know it's not off because I can make out the windows, though it's entirely too dark to be usable.
Does anyone have any experience with this to help me out? Pressing the brightness control buttons do nothing, and I have to do a hard restart for it to be fixed.
Interestingly enough, even when I do that, the screen remains just above black until I press the brightness control button. Then it goes straight to the brightest setting, the one I usually keep it at.

The likely situation is that the LCD fires up after sleep, but the backlight does not. My only suggestion would be to give the OS a reinstall and hope for the best. There are also many hardware related possibilities.
