my wife and I have G4 1Ghz powerbook and lately after she uses it and shutsdown, the screen is dim on boot up...I have tried raising the brightness while logged in as her and this doesn't seem to work...any ideas would be greatly appreciated. It does not seem to do this when I (my account) shuts down the computer. It is quite annoying!

How dim is it exactly?

I also think my 12" PB is dim when it comes out of sleep mode, or after bootup, for example. It probably IS dim, but after 30 seconds or so, my screen isn't dim anymore.

It may be normal. However, if its very very very dim, like say as dim as your screen normally is on a screen brightness setting of 1 notch, then no, that's not normal.

it's probably some sort of warmup period... i've noticed similar coming out of a long sleep on my iMac.... don't worry about it if it becomes normal after some time....

No,,,it actually is dim...it stays that way until I turn up the brightness with the "bright" button.....and this is from a cold start, not from coming out of sleep....thanks...keep em coming!
