Hey everyone,

So for the past year or so I have had these markings on my screen. Looks to be caused by the keyboard and the bigger patch from me cleaning my screen.

Anyone else have markings like those in my picture?

You can't notice it too much with normal use, however it is very noticeable on black backgrounds. It appears as if it's the top layer of coating or whatnot on the screen. Just wondering, I love my 2013 pro and I can guess ti will be nearing the end of its support by marking vintage or obsolete.

Anyone think this would be a quick fix through Apple? or would I have to pay for a whole new screen you think? I really want to hang on to this model for as long as possible. I love having the SD card, HDMI Port and USB-A ports. It's just convenient not having to worry about any kind of dongle.

Just sparking some discussion.

Thanks!

Do a search here for "staingate". That's pretty much what you have, meaning that the anti-reflective coating is wearing through. Apple has had a service repair program to replace the displays, and your 2013 has been in that program.

But, it might be too old for Apple to do a free replacement. BUT, take it in to an Apple Store. They might do something - it is worth a try, I think.

Look up staingate on facebook and join the group. There are people on there who have successfully been able to fully remove the AR coating with home products and the screen looks new.
