Is there any software out there whereby I can lock my computer when I am walking away from it. I can use the screensaver but it takes a few minutes for the screensaver to activate and sometimes I need to go in emergencies thus i can't wait.

My previous Vista machine had a feature whereby you clicked on 'lock' and it would only unlock once the password was entered.

Could someone point me in the right direction.

    Yep!

Another is to set up a Hot Corner to activate the screen saver just by moving your mouse to that corner.

i use a quicksilver trigger "command l" to run the fast logout script, which locks my computer.
