Screen protector pro & con?

I was looking at a new iMac yesterday in a store and the sales person tried to sell me a protective plastic film for IV and scratch protection.

I am not overly worried about sunlight and UV inside my office and up to now I have never had problems with scratches.

Is there any good reason to buy the protective film and if so does it harm true colors in any way?

Don't bother - most have bad reviews.
