Screen Replacement

My screen has had a blot on the screen for a few months... I thought it would go away but it hasn't. I am wondering how much Apple replacement cost and if there are cheaper alternatives. I have the last of the non-unibodys.
 
I know that those laptops used LCD screens, and that the shells seemed more fragile, did it get bumped?

Do you have apple care?
