Hello,

I have an iPhone 5S that recently got its screen scratched by sand... I was holding the phone with a water bottle with the same hand and the bottle got sand stick to it so when I slightly moved the bottle it scratched the screen... I guess this is not covered by the warranty?

If not, I guess I can send the phone to Apple for a screen replacement

User inflicted damage is never covered under warranty.

Sorry to hear about your phone though :(

At least a screen replacement is much cheaper than having to get a full out-of-warranty replacement ($269).

Scratching is considered normal wear and tear. It will not be covered by limited warranty or Applecare+
