I need to use Screen Sharing (in iChat) for my job, but I'm unable to connect. Every time I try to do so, it tells me that it has failed. I'm relatively new to Macs and therefore am not sure what steps I should take.

The person I'm trying to share my screen with (or see their screen) is able to share their screen with everyone except me.

Any ideas? What settings should I be checking? I dug through a bunch of old threads but with little luck.

Thank you!

You're at work... where is your mate? In the same office?

I'm going to guess there's a block on your office's firewall that isn't allowing the iChat screen sharing protocol through.

I can't screen share form work either (behind a FortiGate firewall).

OP, see if this helps at all :)

Try logging on to AIM on port 443 rather than port 5190.

Go to IChat in the menu bar > Preferences > Accounts.
Log out of AIM and then use the Server Settings tab
Set the port to 443.
Log back in again.

Unfortunately, the port trick didn't work.

I work from home and in the west and the person I'm trying to connect to is on the east coast, which makes screen sharing even more important. I've tried disabling every firewall I can possibly think of but with no luck.

Any other ideas?
