Hi all,

I have a new 13" MacBook Air 1.7GHz i5 4GB 256GB SSD with Lion. I have a problem with the screen sharing option. It is turned on in System Preferences but I can't connect to my MacBook Air from any computer.

The strange thing is, I can use Screen Sharing with other Mac's. I am instantly connected with the other Mac to take over that screen. It's just that I can't take over my own screen from another Mac.

It says connecting for a long time and after a minute or 2, I need to login to my computer to connect. When I enter my username and password, it stays at connecting.. I just can't get a connection.

I hope somebody has a solution for the problem because I use this a lot.

Thanks in advance!

I've had trouble with it too, but I haven't tried to Lion from another Mac.

But I did with an iPad. The problem for me stemmed from the fact that Screen Sharing now allows you to access multiple accounts; if I just went to the Lion machine as I had before I got caught at the login screen and no amount of fiddling could get me past it.

What worked is connecting not with the password I set (on the Lion machine) in the Sharing pref pane, but with my regular user name and password for an account that was running on the Lion machine. I could do this in Remoter VNC on the iPad, but some of the VNC clients out there don't have a way to enter a username, just a password.

You might try fiddling with the users who are allowed access, or see if you can find a way to send the user name and password combo to Lion when starting a connection.

And check this thread: http://tinyurl.com/3zyovcc

I can also access screen sharing on my Lion computer using ShareTool; it sets up a connection over the internet via SSH and then I used the Screen Sharing feature in 10.5.8 to connect to Lion using my login password.

HTH,
rob
