The X is longer and the plus is wider. I think it depends on what you do with your phone more. If you do more web browsing, reading etc then the X is better. For video the plus is better because the screen has more surface area. However even for watching video the X has a better quality panel and its more immersive if you set the video to fill the screen (If you can tolerate the notch).

If there was something in the middle of the screen? No, of course not. Good thing there isn't.

If you're trying to use the entire screen and have content filling it all...you certainly can have something obscured by the notch - I think you realize that though..

Huge issue? Maybe not, but certainly decreases the usefulness/desirability of the touted screen size for some people.

Only when watching videos and maybe games. It doesn’t obscure anything important elsewhere.

I see the ears as added screen space. Otherwise we would have extra bezel and the status bar icons would be taking up more space. Now we have more space. Definitely a big upgrade over the standard size 7/8. Not sure why people thought this was a replacement for the Plus. Any misleading was in their own minds.

I don’t think we made up the misleading in our minds. Apple sold this as the largest screen ever on an iPhone. If they had kept a 16:9 aspect ratio I don’t think anyone would be complaining.
