For those that have the iPhone 6 series or above and an iPad, has the iPad played a decision on the selection of your phone screen size?

I have medium-large hands, but I still chose the 11 Pro because I like the smaller form factor. Lately I’ve been tempted to swap to the 11 Pro Max for the battery and screen size. However, I’m thinking once I get my iPad it won’t matter too much since I’ll do the majority of gaming, media watching and browsing on it. Curious how others made their decisions.

Ever since i got the 11” ipad, i dont use my iPhone much except for communications like calls and social media. So yes, i prefer the smaller size iPhone. The max / plus just feel unnecessary big and redundant considering i carry my iPad everywhere.

For me it does. Ever since the OG Air, the iPad's always in my purse. I've had a year to get used to it before Apple released its first "phablet".

I've tried bigger iPhones but for me, they weren't as convenient to use in several situations (e.g. juggling groceries), didn't fit in my pockets and the display was still a lot smaller than the iPad's. In particular, aspect ratio in landscape feels squished.

Had the iPhone been good enough that I didn't need to carry the iPad with me all the time, I'd be using a bigger one. As it is, I prefer pocketability and being able to at least do some things single-handed on my phone.

Besides, my eyes aren't good as they used to be. Maybe 8-10 years ago, I would've been fine using the retina iPad mini. Nowadays, I find even that too small for comfortable web browsing.

(Copy and pasted from my reply in another thread).

I have the 2020 iPad 11" 128GB WIFI only, but I'm returning it and will be getting the refurbished 2018 12.9" 256GB WIFI only on Monday.

I thought about it and realized that I didn't really need the new camera and minimal performance gains, and I want the 12.9" screen a little bit more. I paid about the same for the refurb including Applecare+.

Yes. I had an iPhone 6 and purchased an iPad mini. It’s my go to for at home browsing, reading, games, etc. It’s a really versatile and convenient one handed size.

I then downsized to an iPhone SE and happily leave it at home most of the time, preferring to use my Apple Watch. If the rumored 5.4” phone(s) are released this fall one of them will be a Day 1 purchase for me.

I prefer smaller phones precisely because I almost always have an ipad with me, the biggest I would go is 5.8in with no bezels, anything larger is unconfortable... Also ipad has always a keyboard cover weth on the go, as I hate writing on glass (if I am standing I will use my phone, but will use speech recognition as much as possible to avoid writing on it...)

I went different directions. XS Max and will always get the biggest phone Apple releases, but I chose the 11" iPad over the 12.9 for more comfortable browsing.

Thanks for all the feedback folks. I’m still tempted by the Pro Max. With stores closed it’s difficult to do a return/exchange and I don’t have the extra funds to buy another and an iPad in the meantime. Whenever they open up again I’m going to go play around with the max again.

I notice any time I type, even now, I use both thumbs. Tried playing cod mobile on my iPad 9.7 and didn’t like the size jump. So, that will be exclusively played on my phone. Two quick promoters for the Max...and that battery. Just unsure if I want to deal with the size on the daily. I feel the 11 Pro and iPad 11” would complement each other whereas the Max may bite into my iPad usage (diminishing its value to me).
