i kno i kno, ive done searches but i cant find out exactly what it is. i have the powerbook thats in my sig, so do i need that hack? i want to use my pb with a 17'' envision lcd i have. ive used that little adapter that came with my powerbook, but it looked all fuzzy on my 17" lcd....anyhelp would be great guys..... 🙂

What hack? To operate in clamshell mode? I've heard this is a terrible idea due to thermal reasons.

And, it probably looked fuzzy because the 17" LCD wasn't set to it's native resolution. Just a guess, though. 🙂
 
Change the resolution in System Preferences --> Displays... for the external monitor. it sounds like it is not at the "Native Resolution"
 
You may have been in in screen mirroring mode (to change it press F7) or as someone above me said, you have to set a correct resolution in display preferences.
