Hi guys, I've setup my daughter's phone so I can see her screen time and track her location. Unfortunately, recently I've been unable to see her screen time and all I get is a message saying "As this device is used, screen time will be reported here".

I'm on the latest iOS. Daughter is on iOS 12.5.7, which is the latest for her phone.

What do I need to do to fix this?

Unfortunately, I would suggest you get a phone which supports the latest operating system. But then you will still probably run into issues because screen time across devices has never worked reliably and seems to get worse with each release. For example, it is widely accepted that it will not work correctly when more than two devices are set to “share across devices”. Therefore, I think by extension, and I am sure other people have mentioned a similar issue to yours, that it just doesn’t work.

Maybe raise it with issue Apple as well because the more people that do the better. Bear in mind, they are already incredibly slow to fix any issues as it is, and this has existed for at least a year.

Unfortunately that IOS system is already outdated for 4 years . you may have to upgrade your daughters phone to ensure her security and you can turn on screen time :)

Thanks guys. It was working absolutely fine a few weeks ago. Then just stopped like that.

I guess a new phone might be due. Lucky girl! 😂

My SO and I have a child set up as part of the family and for a year or so (he recently got an iPhone) we were both able to see his screen time stats and location. Recently, on my SO's phone & iPad she is no longer able to see his screen time or his location. So this is not isolated to her phone (it's 12 and iPad is a late model 12.9 pro, both running latest OS). This did not coincide with iOS 16 but soon thereafter (so maybe a .x version).

She can log out of iCloud and back in, update the settings and it works at first but then disappears again (in a few hours). She contacted Apple and did all of the things they recommended (we had already done them anyway) and they said they weren't sure what else to do and have noted the issue.

I've had no issues (I am the organizer and she is listed as a parent/guardian). Has anyone else experienced this and even better, figured out a solution? I finally got her on the Apple train after being an Android user for years and she's starting to regret switching.

There are other posts about this (try doing a search it may or may not bring up some decent results) but unfortunately you are not alone and there is no fix. Apple have really screwed this one up along with everything else that they do these days. All I can suggest is that you report it again to Apple, maybe point them in this direction on here and let them know it just does not work anymore. Sorry I can't be any more positive about it.

Thanks...I did some searching previously and have seen a few similar reports (both om here and elsewhere on the web) but it doesn't seem like it's impacting a large portion of the userbase. If it's somewhat limited to a small number of people then there is little hope it will be the focus of any dev efforts.

The weird thing is it's not isolated to a particular device since it happens on here iPad AND iPhone which tells me something in her iCloud account is borked. I wonder if there is some commonality there. She has a gmail email address used for her iCloud where I use a now deprecated mac.com (icloud based) address.

Not sure a new phone will fix it. My SO has this issue and she has it both with her iPhone 12 and iPad Pro 12.9. Seems to be an issue with iCloud somehow.
