is the sapphire screen on the series 3 identical to the screen on the series 2 or is it better/improved in any way?

It's the exact same sapphire display that's been used on the first generation stainless watch/Series 2 Stainless/Ceramic model and Series 3 Stainless/Ceramic models.

Is there any difference in the heart sensor array itself? im trying to justify selling my Stainless Steel Series 2 and upgrade to the Series 3 even though i wont be using the Cellular on the Series 3, is the heart sensor in the Series 3 any more accurate compared to the one in the series 2?

Probably not. If your not activating cellular than no need to upgrade S2 To S3 but, I upgraded anyway because, I just wanted the newer watch. I had a SS and wanted the SBSS.

I see, how are you liking the space black compared to your or previous stainless steel model? I absolutely love the stainless steel model, paired with a Milanese Loop it’s such a beautiful combination.

Yes. The new screen is attached to a watch with a faster processor, more RAM (if LTE), new explorer watch face, new band options, Siri that talks back. But no, the screen is the same awesome material.

It’s a beauty. Glad I made the purchase. I’m delighted each time I look at it. I don’t like it more or less than the SS. It’s just different.

Is the red dot on the crown a downside in your opinion?

The space black is an underrated Apple Watch. The diamond like carbon coating makes the difference entirely how well it protects that specific Apple Watch model. It's by far my favorite.

Obviously that's personal preference for some. The red dot on the digital crown to me is completely overblown and a non-issue.
