screencapture with coordinate arguments

My first post here,

I'm searching for a method to capture a portion of the screen. When using Cmd+Shift+3 or Terminal application 'screencapture', I'm under the impression that I have to set the coordinates for the capture with mouse input. Is there any way of making a Shell-script for instance executing it with the screen coordinates as arguments?

Can anybody help here?

On Leopard at least there is a screencapture command-line utility installed by default. Open the Terminal and type man screencapture to learn more...
