I have got a vexing problem where when I'm watching a WMV movie, the screensaver will start after its preset time of 5 minutes. I play WMV files using Flip4Mac and QuickTime Player. However, other movies using Perian play fine without the screensaver activating.

Any ideas what is wrong here?

Huh? As far as I know, what you are experiencing is normal - the screensaver is supposed to start after X minutes of inactivity. Are you moving the mouse or doing anything else while watching that movie? If not, then that explains the screensaver coming up. As for other movies via Perian not triggering the screensaver, that seems abnormal to me. Perian shouldn't block the screensaver from working.

The screen saver only doesn't start if you're in full screen mode in quicktime or a few other apps (for instance full screen flash movies in a web browser don't stop the timer). Try Caffeine

Thank you, I didn't know that application existed. :)

Thanks for clearing that up. The screensaver's inconsistent behaviour was driving me up the wall.
