Hi. Can anyone help. I recently downloaded two screen savers from the offical apple website. put them into the approprite folders >Library>Screen savers.

When I launched the System Prefs pane to adjust the screensavers the pane froze. The pane clearly shows no screen savers in the window. It will not even allow me to access the 'show all' tab too. I have since deleted the new screen savers and ran two virus programes using Norton and intego. They both came up with nothing. I have attached a pic shot of pane. Please can someone help as I need to get this function up and running.
Many thanks

yes the pane looks just like that, well it once did before it corrupted. I'll try to attach the pic again. Sorry for the delay. I hope it comes through ok.

I've restarted, shut down, ran the boot disc (which brought back a clear no-problem message). This is driving me crazy. I've downloaded hundreds of of screen savers before. It's a real pain as you can't access the rest of the panel.

1) Log in as another user and verify that System Preferences works normally or is broken there as well.
2) remove the appropriate .plist file (dependant on #1, get back to us)

:)THANKS VERY MUCH YELLOW!! Solved. Deleted the appropriate plist files and Hey Presto up and running. Thanks to all the other members too. :D
