The new TvOS (and Sonoma) adds more screensavers. Which is great.
But why are they all so focused on some specific parts of the world?
There is lots of US centric ones, China, Dubai and UK ....and that is it.
Ah yes, Iceland and Greenland is also there.

Where is the entire European continent?
Anything from Africa maybe?
the entire rest of Asia?

What is up with the extremely limted world view Apple? Could you not afford to buy more than one "landscape pack" from some drone users?

The word has been thrown about a lot these days, but with my limited vocabulary I cannot find a better phrase; I find it a bit "insulted" in that Apple has completely forgotten half the world exists.
I do not expect that every part of the world is covered, but it seems odd that so much has been spent of covering China and Dubai and so much has been neglected.

Edit changed offended to "insulted" probably "better"

Well, first off, I’d be pretty surprised if this was just a landscape pack provided by some drone users. I’d expect it was specifically contracted by Apple. To minimize cost, you do multiple shots in each area you sent a team to film. The US and China are natural starting points as they represent the Apple hq, most of Apple manufacturing, and the two largest sales markets. Then you’d expand from there. I expect they’ll dump new locations on us every once in a while, but I wouldn’t get too offended if they walk out their back door and add a few more from San Francisco first.

Apple has completely forgotten half the world exists.

I suspect that the screen savers are chosen based on a number of factors, including the "wow" factor and popularity. If they have two "wow" savers, one from a location that no one knows, and one that is familiar to, or has been visited by lots of people they would chose the latter. Doesn't explain why no shots of such places as Neuschwanstein Castle, Matterhorn though.

There have been lots of savers taken at Yosemite. Being close to Apple Corporate may have something to do with it, but I suspect popularity is the determining factor. Flying over Yosemite I pointed it out to my European seat mate and they got excited - "We're going there next week!" 3.5 million visitors a year who might want to remember their trip with a Yosemite screen saver.

But yes, they certainly could be more diverse.

This is what I like about the open-source screensaver Aerial. It has access to all the "official" Apple screensavers but also has a way for other videographers to plug in and offer their own packs for sale. (There are a bunch of European ones in there now, looks like).

Aerial also offers a ton of customization options beyond what Apple offers. The only thing it doesn't have is that slick transition from screensaver to desktop -- but frankly I can live without that myself.

edit: d'oh! I did not read this carefully and thought it was a Mac complaint. Carry on.

I wonder if outside the countries already on the pack, it's simply a matter of logistics (cost/paperworks) of getting teams out there to do the filming, and possibly regulartory hurdles in various regions to get drone flights going? How restrictive is EU about having drones in metropolitan areas and national parks/reserves? I myself would love some screensavers of the Serrengeti and oldworld cities like Venice/Dubvornik etc...

I can't get those to play on any Windows browser. Firefox, Chrome, Edge.... none will play the videos. I don't remember if they ever did.

Playing them on my iPad, I don't see the new ones. That being said, I seem to have the Traveling along Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai permanently installed on my Apple TV. The only wow factor that one has is Wow.....it's friggin playing again. I really wish I could delete that one and the one flying over the Dubai marina. The other Dubai aerials are fine but I rarely get them.

It does mention at the bottom that all the screensavers come direct from Apples servers so I’m guessing that also means they’ll only work on an Apple device.
It doesn’t look like the new ones have been added to that site yet.

Thanks for pointing that out. I saw it but didn't think it meant an Apple OS operating system only. But it makes sense.

I have noticed that you no longer have setting to change the picture transition type eg Ken burns or blinds
