When I take a screenshot, the output is in png,

how do i change it to jpeg?

TinkerTool will do it. Run it once, change the setting and trash the app if you don't want it.

If you open up the PNG file, and click save as, you can save this as JPEG too 🙂

I think if you type this into terminal and restart, all screenshots should be saved as JPG:

defaults write com.apple.screencapture type jpg

You could also use the Grab application which should allow you to save screen captures in JPEG format.

The Secrets Preference Pane will let you easily change it.
