Yes, Braun! Thank you. I was trying to find it on Google looking for "Brohnson" lol.

Check out these pictures:

Music.app has the wood on the sides with the light metal in the middle. And when playing the music app also has that little orange needle (on the record player it indicates what station you are tuned to) that tracks your position within the song.

It's just a completely different look. Initially I didn't like it, but I played with it and realized what it was and I really like it now. I agree that it'd be nice to have a list mode for Artist, but I do like it. The old music app (iPod) just looked like iTunes on the computer. Why not change it up a bit?

No. In landscape view you get the same view - just wider. The only "list mode" is seen when you touch "Songs". Touching "Songs" gives you an alphabetical list of every song on your device with an "A ... Z" shortcut on the right hand side. Not the most useful view.

Touching "More" lets you select view by audiobooks, composers, or genres. The "New" button in Playlist view lets you create a new playlist (which is pretty dang neat.)

I think that its a great new look. Itunes on the iPhone & Mac looks so boring now. I wouldn't mind if it came to the whole platform.

I wonder if they updated iPod touch's music app as well. And I like that new design really much.

I like the new design, but am I the only one that is starting to not like the fragmented appearance from apple app to apple app? It seems that each one is visually different from the others, and the approach to menus, functions, buttons is not consistent.

Take for instance, the calendar app. There aren't month buttons , but more a slider style bar, that functions like buttons. You cannot swipe to next page, but in iBooks you can. The new dictionary looks like iBooks with the colors and fonts, but doesn't subscribe to the standard appearance and fonts for the iOS system.

this new music app has square play/pause, forward and back buttons at the top. On the bottom, they are closer to the standard... rectangle buttons with round corners. In addition, the app breaks from the apple grey background standard, and uses a hybrid grey / sepia tone?!?!

It's beginning to feel that iOS is fragmented and Apple is losing focus on what made them successful. Consistent and elegant design standards.

Apple claims over 200 new features coming in iOS 5. One that was listed amongst the slides was a new iPad Music app, and while it was visible and briefly mentioned in during the keynote, some readers may have missed it, so here is a screenshot passed along to us by a reader.

I like it =)

I like it so you can now slide you're fingers across the song and delete the song if you no longer want it on the iPad :D, suppose its another feature to go PC free

Quit trollin :p if iOS wasn't any good it wouldn't be doing so well now would it? the visuals are fine and pretty fancy, if everything looked the same it would be well like Android dull & boring

Apple's been moving away from a "consistent look and feel" for a long time. The apps are all designed with photorealistic graphics that attempt to emulate whatever they do. The calendar looks like a calendar. iBook looks like a book. Music.app looks like a retro Braun record player. Reminders looks like a notepad.

I've looked at the iOS 5 beta and overall I think it's a solid update, I really do feel like they have really dropped the ball with the 'Music' app (I don't know why they felt the need to change it from iPod but that's another matter).

All navigation is done now by album artwork, so when you select 'Artists' it is essentially a giant grid of album artwork organised by Artist. It's actually extremely difficult to find what I'm looking for. In the old iPod app, you could just scroll down a list of Artists organised in a text list and it was easy to navigate and find what you're looking for. This new app is a mess. Sure it's got a lot more 'pop' in terms of people will initially go 'Wow, that looks really cool', but ultimately it's now far harder to use than it was before which is very unlike Apple.

In addition, the music controls at the top are far too small and fiddly.

I feel Apple really need to address this application before iOS 5 is finalised as I really see a lot of people not liking this app once they start to use it and get over the initial look of the app. I actually thought the iOS 4 iPod application was almost perfect - looked good, controls were clear and of a sufficient size to be usable and it was easy to navigate and find music.

Please tell me that they didn't take Cover Flow away?

It's gone - even when turned horizontal the app just resizes for that aspect. Honestly, I have no idea what they were thinking with this application. I really hope they revert back to the iPod application if enough developers complain about the poor UI.

I really love the new Music app, I think it's much better than before, especially aesthetically.

Can you post some photos I liked the way the covers always looked like album. Also felt swiping them with fingers like on the iPhone was great. I love the cover flow in safari as well hope they dont take it out of iTunes or safari.

It does look pretty good, I don't think you'll be disappointed. I'm afraid I can't, as I'm under an NDA. Although, I'm sure you'll be able to find heaps of stuff from other members here, as well as from YouTube.

Cheers

I have mixed feelings about it's design. While it seems it was made made using a space saving design, it also seems incomplete or even fake (but I don't really think it's fake).

Also, if your NDA allows you to comment on the following, it would really be appreciated. :D

What is the purpose of blank area in the center of the top part of the screen, between the prev-play-next controls and the volume slider?

Also, how can someone who had "cut the cord" be able to transfer non-iTunes purchased music into it, let say using GoodReader or Safari? Is there an "Open In..." (iTunes) option for music files?

Doesn't appear to give that option just tried. To be honest, if you were post pc. What would you use to download music other than iTunes? Amazon doesn't have a client that you use (that would be a great idea but I couldn't see that happening).

The blank area displays album art, artist, album, track, and shuffle/repeat controls. Found these screenshots online (not at all endorsing the black eyed peas haha)

Well, my complete music library is about 500GB, so it just sits in a hard drive connected to my network.
I want to be able to access it via WebDAV (using GoodReader, for example), copy songs to my iPad and open them in iTunes on the iPad.

Also, I have friends who are musicians and send me their demos to review via email. I would also like to be able to put them into iTunes on my iPad.

Is it gone from the iPhone you mean? The iPad never had one IIRC. There should be an option for toggling between a widescreen music app, and Coverflow for when you want something more visual.

Do I see the ability to make the iPad Music App black instead of gray? I think the square buttons are ugly, but could live with it in black, as you only really see the labels.

Playlist Folders? PLEASE!

APPLE: Please permit me to collect my playlists into folders on my iPad.

I make significant use of this feature under Mac OS X and was very disappointed when I learned that its not available under iOS 4.

The more I look at this the more I love it! So classic and clean. I just want to make sure it still has all the features from before like all the genius stuff etc. which it looks like it does.

Also, I wonder how Apple is going to handle podcasts and audiobooks now since they are splitting the music and video into separate apps. Will they both have podcasts with the video ones going in the video app, and the audio ones going in the music app with audiobooks etc.? That would make sense. Just curious to see how they implement it.

Also, I wonder if the sidebar returns in this new music GUI if you rotate to landscape?

I even hope that iTunes 10.5 gets a UI revamp and looks like this! Apparently they are rewriting it in 64bit and maybe Cocoa anyway so why not? That would be a nice change!

3rd also :) haha, I wonder what they will do with the remote app now?

P.S. That "new" button on the playlist screen needs to be toned down a notch or too!

P.P.S. I wish Apple would be consistent with the music notes on their icons. The new "Music" app and the "iTunes Store" icons should have music notes that are the same new more rounded note that is on the actual iTunes icon!
