I can't believe I've been completely unable to turn up any results around this topic, but I definitely tried. I simply want to disable the noise that accompanies taking a screenshot, the camera shutter sound.

Any tips would be appreciated!

You can always use GRAB in the Utilities folder to do your screenshots. It offers more plus you can tick the sound off or on in preferences.

Hm, the Grab utility might do it - after all, Quicksilver can see it, so it's nearly as fast.

Thanks!

If you go to Sound in System Prefs and in Sound Effects, uncheck Play user interface sound effects. This will eliminate the screenshot sound effect but also everything else like emptying the trash and that kind of stuff.

One of the first things I do on new OS installs :p

/System/Library/Components/CoreAudio.component/Contents/Resources/CoreAudioAUUI.bundle/Contents/Resources/Grab.aif

Sorry, I selected the wrong file... This is the right one:

/System/Library/Components/CoreAudio.component/Contents/Resources/SystemSounds/system/Grab.aif

Take care! :)
