I think I screwed up my documents folder. I was in my documents folder and tried dragging the window itself by the top and accidentally dragged off the title of the window (who knew that would happen?) which appeared to put my docs folder on the desktop. I then dragged that desktop item onto the harddrive icon over on the right. Don't ask why - it was a quick impulse to fix the problem.

Well, now I don't know what's what or if my stuff is where it's supposed to be. If I'm in a chooser, like in Safari attaching a file to a Yahoo email, the Documents folder in the left pane doesn't have any of my personal stuff except some Quicken data files. But if I'm in the Macintosh HD on the desktop, the Documents icon in the left pane DOES have all my personal stuff. BUT, the documents folder under my name ("Steve" from left pane, Documents under that in right pane) ONLY has the Quicken docs.

I'm SO confused and now I don't even know what the real setup should look like on a mac. Help!

Go to your main HD. The silver looking icon thingy.

Then open users.

Then open the home folder (looks like a house)

Chuck the documents folder in there.

Everything should be fine.
