I just installed Chrome 64bit w/ Adblock Plus. It's actually running quite well now...especially compared to Safari on Yosemite.

Chrome runs much better than Firefox. But if you open the Activity Monitor. Scroll a page with Chrome. You will see a second process related to Chrome that consumes so much CPU...

That is exactly what I seeing.... A comment in your Youtube thread said that they managed to return it to Best Buy. And you sold it it in the end.

By the way, Im not a fan of the Dashboard feature in OSX. So I hardly use it. I also disable as much animation as possible. Particularly the minimize to dock effect. I also disable smooth scrolling. While it doesn't take away the main problem, it does help a little bit..

What did you get instead?

At this point, I am wondering why people still prefer to use a product that isn't exactly optimized. Do the stutters / laggy UI bug people or is just a few handful and they just accept the way it is?

By the way, this also happens with non Retina's. So it might just be a common issue. Perhaps not an issue perse... Thoughts?

I do not see a stutter issue... But i have seen it before with Parallax sites. It's a safari issue where as Chrome and other browsers you won't see it. There is a work around code wise for this issue. So it's more of a web dev issue than anything. I was able to get stuttering site to move smoothly with Safari after doing some research.

At the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TLbzxjJSiI&list=UUR-gHxamC2lZZq_BxYQMMnw do you experience the same "laggy" ui effect with the dashboard and minimize to dock animations?

video is no longer there. When minimizing to the dock there is no lag, its completely smooth. I have 1.23gb of ram free right now with 2 Safari browser open (5 tabs total, one streaming live tv) and 9 other apps open as well. Zero lag issue with 2 external monitors connected too (total 3 screens).

Which laptop are you testing this out with? Which model/version?

Check https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TLbzxjJSiI&list=UUR-gHxamC2lZZq_BxYQMMnw

I tested on both computers below...
Macbook Pro Retina 13" Mid 2014 8gb 512gb 2.8gb i5
Mac Mini 2.5GHz dual-core i5 16gb 500gb - Late 2012

All run fine... has it always been that way, how much RAM do you have? Also might want to look into what processes are running, what auto loads on startup. It could be what's running at the time that is eating up more resources. I've seen the lag before but at the time I was moving 4gb file over my network with a ton of apps open. Things are smooth on my end.

Nothing is running in the background. Opened Firefox from a fresh restart. I am using the latest MBP Retina. Purchased on December. Are you on Yosemite?

I also tried with a friends MBP Retina Mid 2014. The same issue. Don't know if you are just not noticing the lag... Some people dont notice, and thus dont realize.

I'm waiting for the new Macbook Air with retina or Broadwell Macbook Pro . Also I just got an Ipad Air 2 for web browsing and media . For work I have a pretty good desktop .

All the retina models are having LAG now , some people see it some are USED to it . Check out this video where you see that even a iMac with 5K display is lagging : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TReJmvn5nKY . Apple computers are a freaking joke right now .
