Scrubbing in movie app activating drop down menu?

ive had this annoying problem when watching an iTunes movie. If I go to scub to a certain point in a movie it’ll bring down the notifications menu. This happens when I swipe down a bit to change the scrubbing speed. It also is only a problem when viewing the movie in landscape mode. Anyone else have this happen or am I just doing something wrong here?
