Hi Bunnspecial. I just purchased an Apple OEM card, Adaptec AHA-2930CU, and I'm waiting for the delivery. While I'm not an IT or Mac expert, I am an avid MAC enthusiast. I recently revived my G4 PowerMac running on OS Server 10.4.11 and my goal is to recover some precious pictures from a 25-year-old JAZ 1 GB disk. Do I need a driver for this Adaptec card? My Jaz drive came with Jaz tools version 5.5.1, is that the compatible driver? I installed an ADAPTEC 2906, and my G4 was able to detect it (see attached picture) but my Jaz Drive did not mount. I tried in Classic 9, then later on booted to OS 9.1, but the JAZ drive did not mount. I am assuming that ADAPTEC 2906 is not compatible. I beg for your expert advice please. Thanks.
Ick Jaz, you probably need the latest (old) Jaz driver to get this to work. I like syquest drives more but working on 30-40 year old equipment and getting it to work on newer equipment is always a problem. The 2930 is quite good but the cables can be a real problem and adding a Jaz.
