SD Card for MBP? Suggestions

Looking to add some extra semi-permanent storage on new MBP-15" Any great ideas of card that I can leave in place?

I have considered this some time ago. As far as I can remember, the price per GB of storage is not worth it, not to mention the very low read write speed.
