I have a Belkin USB-C hub hooked up to my M1 MacBook Air (16GB/512GB/8cGPU.) It has a USB-C, two USB-A, and an HDMI port, as well as an SD card reader. However every once in a while (there doesn't seem to be a specific pattern), I'll get a popup that says "Disk so-and-so has been ejected from the drive." And then get scolded for not ejecting it properly.

But I haven't touched anything...it just seems to spontaneously disconnect for no apparent reason. I've also noticed the same issue with USB-A and USB-C storage devices attached to the same hub. What's causing this stupidity?

What OS are you running? I did a brief search and found this thread about USB hubs having issues on machines running Monterey. The thread is a year old, but there are 12 pages of comments.

Ack, completely forgot about this thread. Yes I was (and still am) running Monterey. I've been exercising a bit of caution before jumping ship to Ventura. But if true this seems like an excellent reason to make the transition...unless the problem is still present.
