Ok just purchased my first MacBook Pro and would like to know what can be done with the sd slot ? What cards will work in it and not? The pro duo and compact flash cards I currently have look like they will not fit in the slot correctly.

It's an SD card slot... perhaps you are thinking of a 6-in-one or somesuch other multi-card reader? It's not -- just SD cards.
Well, to be fair... there's a lot of "different" SD cards, some of which needs adapters, and then there's the old, related MMC cards that can also be used. So SD isn't just SD...
Compact Flash, on the other hand, or those nasty ones from Sony and Olympus will not work...at all...
