SD slot wireless modem (3/4G or LTE) does it exist?

Hi guys,

Ive been searching high and low, is it possible to obtain a wireless modem that will function in the sd card slot?

I have a USB one right now, but would rather use the SD slot. Any suggestions?

Apple SD slots don't support SDIO so you won't be able to find what you're looking for.

USB or Bluetooth are your only options - aside from a Mifi.

I would go with a Mifi or Verizon 4G iPad.

It's too small. You can look at teardowns of USB dongles or MiFi devices and the circuitry is much bigger and thicker than a full-size SD slot.

I know this is an old thread, but there may be some hope. Try searching for the Huawei E2131 UltraStick Wireless 3G SD Modem. I'm not sure if this ever sold or not but it's an answer to your question.

I like bluetooth tethering with my iPhone. Has been very handy at times when my home internet has gone down, and I feel more secure using my phone's LTE connection instead of public wifi hotspots while travelling. 🙂
