    hello

I've searched the net and these forums but didn't find the answer I sought.

I recently bought a: SanDisk Extreme, SDHC UHS-1 16GB card

and I can't seem to write on it directly from the SD card reader, but it can read it... and it works perfectly from my HP printer although it's slooooow

so can the mbp write on SDHC cards or not?

Yes the 2011 supports SDHC cards. Even the 2012 MBP does not support UHS so I doubt that the 2011 MBP does.

What format is it? Macs can't write to NTFS. Try changing it to FAT32.
