This talk about only a beta being released next week is total ********. Apple would not promise a release date of late February, and then deliver the product 4-5 months late. The SDK had to be far enough down the road to completion if they believed it was only a month away. PERIOD.

I cannot sit here and even begin to believe this rumor B.S. about a June release, and I for one, don't understand how anyone else can either. It's coming, and it's coming soon.

If you think about, if apple releases the full SDK in june, that means not only has apple gone 4 months past their promise date but they have had since October of 07' to get everything together since that is when the announcement was made. It wouldnt make sense if Apple releases it so late, your right, but then again, Apple will be apple, and sometimes they can disappoint.

Someone finally sane enough to understand.

Seriously, they may disapoint from time to time, but a 4-5 month delay? No way in hell. Sorry rumors, you are wrong.

Yeah, never. Not since Leopard.. LOL

Your not understanding what I'm saying though. This wasn't anounced a year ago; the margin for error on a predicted release date would then explain this situation. They announced the release date of the SDK, a month or so before the release. You don't announce something a month before it comes out, and then a month later it's supposedly delayed by 4-5 months.

I'm in total agreement with the OP. They've been working on this long enough to have a rough idea of when they're going to be finished. 1-3 weeks is a little easier to believe. But 6 months? Kinda doubt it unless they had to start over cuz of some huge mistake that they didn't catch until last minute. Once again, kind of hard to believe with a company as big as :apple:. Flame away if you will. That's just my opinion.

i'm with the OP

alot of people on macrumors recently have gotten into a habit of standing by a rumor (or standing staunchly against it) depending on what mood they're in

nobody is thinking about it logically anymore, and you can see for yourself that the rumor section has become a flamefest

this SDK rumor is prime example...apple announces that it'll be 1 month away, and when it doesn't happen, some people have no problem saying it''l be 5 months late

guys, we used to be so good at guessing rumors, we had a feel for what apple would do, and any rumor we picked up could support that and hence we'd know before apple wanted us to:D

alas, no more

Jobs did not promise a release. He said it would be unveiled or something along those lines late February.

I do not know how many of your work in the software industry, but 3 month delay is not that uncommon even considering that Jobs made the February announcement late last year. Unexpected things come about and they can not rush it. There are certains things ( like library interfaces, API etc. ) if not done right the first time around will bite you for a long time in terms of supporting it and backward compatibility etc. Releasing a beta and then solidifying it is a sane approach. Apple can always change a few things in the interface during this short beta interval and that would not upset people that much since it is after all a beta.

I do not know the situation with the Apple SDK but I am amused that you all seem to think Apple is somehow immune to the problems that plague any software company.

They'll probably release it with a ton of bugs...basically beta without the beta written in the version field and wait for some hackers to submit the fixes so they don't have to do it themselves...well, I guess that's not like apple to do at all...

I definitely agree with you, but any reason you approached this situation in such an angry, aggressive manner? This is not a facts website, it's a rumor site; there is no right or wrong. I am not quite sure why you seem so angry about this. So maybe there are people out there who believe the final SDK won't be out until June. It comes out when it comes out. No reason to rant on all these people just because of their thoughts.
