Okay, as we all know, the SDK is being released
today. Anyone have a time estimate on when
we will start to see Apps rolling out from developers?

days?weeks?months?

chase :apple:

Well its not actually being released its a beta at best maybe just a roadmap.

That has been overly confirmed.

Secondly he said by the summer so we may see some first party apps today from the iTunes store maybe.

Perhaps another minor update but this one will pack extra apps like the famed BBC iPlayer.

to be honest saying that we will see lots of apps by the summer gives Job's another 3 months to string us along.

There's no way Jobs is gonna stand up today in front of the worlds press and simply say there's this SDK thingy coming in a few weeks/months that a lot of developers will like playing with and sometime after that your average consumer will get something to buy/install.

All of Apple's conferences are aimed for public consumption and that means applications or hardware in the short term.

I think it all depends on how ready the SDK really is. I think it will be a few months for 3rd party developers to roll out their apps. We may even see some new apps from Apple today that they will be releasing. I'm sure the bigger companies like the Googles and Yahoos already have some programs that are along pretty far in development.

How do you know its released today?

Yes there's a media event, but we don't know its getting released, or am I missing something

Why would they hold a special event that was mentioned in the keynote only to have nothing to show/give us? Surely they will give us some apps.

If it was just a roadmap and a simple announcement why would they delay just a announcement by a week. It was said that it would be out by the end of Feb. So again... why just delay a announcement? I say we get something today. Maybe not the whole thing but just possibly a little taste of what's to come.

I'm wondering if we'll get an update available immediately following the notes. If there is going to be apps immediately available, they will probably release an update to get us into itunes.

This is a REALLY good point. Why delay it if it was jut an announcement? I bet something is coming.

hmmm. so gizmodo is reporting that
there are people inside of the press
event wearing disney costumes.

i wonder what this could have to
do with the SDK???

crazy. lol
