I have a charger that shows the V and A of charging. On my PM it's 9/2 for 18W, but on the SE 2020, the best I've seen even from dead is 9.2/1.4 for 12.88W. Is that what it should be, and is that considered fast charging? The charger is PD and I am using C>L cable.

I’ve noticed Apple is careful - they say that the phone will achieve its fastest charging speed with an 18w adapter, but not necessarily charge AT 18w.

My SE2 maxes out at 13.8-14 watts on an 18W adapter, starting from 10% SOC. (Measured at the wall) Not a massive amount to be gained over a 12W adapter but it does charge very fast regardless.

Maybe that’s why Apple doesn’t include 18 watt charger with the phone? When it comes to buying aftermarket chargers I don’t think there’s a big price difference between 18 watt versus 12 watt models. I’d say by an 18 watt one and it will be happy pushing 13-14 watts.

Sounds like a 12W iPad charger will work fine as well. That one's already free if you have an iPad. 13-14W at the wall probably means 85-92% power efficiency with 12W from USB port. When I fast charge the iPad and iPhone XR with 18W charger, it pulls 19.6W from the wall iirc.

I've got a bunch of iPad 10-12W chargers collected over the years but we use Anker multiport adapters which can deliver up to 2.4A per port to save on sockets.

Mind, I do notice my iPhone 7 gets warm when charging with Anker or iPad charger so perhaps one of the reasons they only include 5W is for battery longevity.
