lets assuming the SE Plus follows the same pattern as SE2, A13 drop in same physical optics as before but much better pics from Image processing.

with a $100 price hike being Plus, and released a year later due to Covid pushback, Fall release of iPhones, and spreading out releases.

...Would this do it for you Plus enthusiasts or would you want more from it?

By that point the A13 would be a year older than it was when put into the SE. It wouldn't be the latest and greatest anymore.

I could see it working if the SE dropped $50 and it came in $100 higher than that (ie $50 hike over current SE prices)

By Spring 2021, the SE2 would naturally drop to $349 and the SE2 Plus likely introduced at $449.

At the end of the day, it'll still be a 4G device with thick bezels. Good choice for iPhone users who want low-cost device with a big screen.

Yeah that's the ask of the poll, if silicon that is a year behind flagship's would be a deal breaker for you guys or not.

iPhone SE exists to serve the low-cost market. If that group of customers wanted leading edge silicon, Apple wouldn't wait 4 years to update the SE.

SE Plus though is a slightly different proposition... it's harder to say it serves the low-cost market if it is $100 more.

True but the price goes down over time through resell market / secondary channels etc

I got a 32gb se1 space grey 2 years ago from att for $70 upfront. Already had a 64gb gold that I paid $499 for around launch at $499 but for that price I had to do it

And as we know with se1 the se appeals to budget minded consumers as well as those that want the smallest handset. They don’t have to be mutually exclusive

And there’s a market for premium (albeit non pro) small hence the rumors of $649 5.4” x style phone in the fall

The Line is constantly blurred

You're right, perhaps I should have said "low-cost iPhone" instead of "low-cost market." I would consider anything under $500 to be a low-cost iPhone. Back in 2013, the iPhone 5c was priced at $549 so anything below that is relatively cheap for Apple.

Given the shrinking unit sales from iPhone, Apple seems to be using a shotgun approach. They're targeting everything - small/big, low-cost/premium markets.

SE2 - $349
SE2 Plus (Home button) - 1H21 - $449
SE3 Plus (side Touch ID) - 2H21 - $549
5.4" iPhone 5G - 2H20 - $649

By 2H21, most customers should have a model that fits their needs.

I currently have the 8 Plus. I guess my next iPhone will be the iPhone 12 Pro Max. It's time for an all-screen display and Face ID. But i'll wait for the iPhone 12.

I think Apple would have capitalized if they had launch the ‘SE Plus ‘along side the 4.7 smaller SE. It doesn’t hurt the fact that they only released the 4.7 SE, but it would make more sense to the consumer to see both model side-by-side at the same time, versus having a separate launch a year later Purportedly for 2021, and then have three other iPhones launch this fall. Ultimately, we also have to keep in mind that the iPhone SE really isn’t geared towards Apples Target main demographic, this phone is for those who either:

A.] Want to save money.

B.] Can’t afford the more expensive iPhones where this phone will succeed in ‘other emerging’ markets.

C.] Don’t care about the latest technology

D.] All the above

PetdonalkyI like the size of the 4.7" SE2, my wife has the XR and I find it too heavy as well as unnecessarily large.

Not sure about this. Don’t think I would’ve bought the SE if it didn’t have the latest chip, which is the top thing that makes the SE an easy purchase. You can use a phone with the latest chip for 4 years. What you’re proposing is a chip 1.5 years old at purchase.

All I want is a 5.5" 401 dpi LCD screen, TouchID, 3 or 4 GB of ram and a recent CPU. I couldn't care less about top & bottom bezels. The camera can come from the 8 plus. Fine with me.

Pretty sure that will happen

They’re not gonna spec out a 5.5” OLED For the plus. They have tons of bin part p3 LCDs laying around from 7/8

There's the iPhone 8 Plus which offers all those things. The A11 is a bit dated, but still a very fast CPU.

IDK if I'd do it. I chose the SE2 because of the size. If I want to go bigger, I'd likely go with the 5.4 12, although I am NOT looking forward to having to adjust to OLED. It hasn't worked for me in the past.

Honestly, my ideal would be this SE2 with a full LCD screen (although I'm not sure how that would work with either touch or Face ID). I love the size/weight.

No since I just purchased the 11 because I prefer the modern design + wanted a bigger screen. But my dad, who currently has a 6S, and wants a bigger screen, but would prefer to keep the old design/touch ID, asked me yesterday if there's any rumors of an SE plus. So he would likely get one. I think an SE Plus would do very well, but it would be interesting in how they do it. Because some rumors have suggested the spring 2021 release will be without a notch/bezels and with touch ID in the home button, as opposed to an updated 8 plus like a lot of people are expecting.

If you are budget-friendly, sure, it would a great phone, if it's 499$. But honestly, i would rather upgrade to the Pro Max. All-screen design but same physical size. I personally don't mind the bezels, but for how long does Apple want to keep that aging design? Atleast the front of the phone looks exactly like the iPhone 6 (Plus) from 2014. It's going to be a new phone in 2021, don't forget that.
